UNK celebrates Nebraska’s 150th with three guest speakers March 1

KEARNEY – The UNK History Department will celebrate Nebraska’s 150th birthday on March 1 by hosting three guest speakers in Kearney.

Peter Longo and Anthony Schutz will present “The Nebraska Constitution” at 3:30 p.m. in the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Copeland Hall, room 142.

Longo is a political science professor at UNK, and Schutz is associate professor of Law at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Paul Johnsgard, UNL professor of biological sciences emeritus, will present “Happy Birthday, Nebraska” at 7 p.m. at Kearney’s Merryman Performing Arts Center, 225 W. 22nd St.

Johnsgard is an internationally-recognized ornithologist who has written more than 70 scholarly books on topics ranging from Lewis and Clark to the natural history of the Nebraska Sandhills.

Both events are free and open to the public.
