Brad Green, associate director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions, received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents KUDOS award Sept. 16.

KUDOS awards recognize university staff for their professional expertise, service and “superior dedication” to UNK and University of Nebraska. It is the university’s top staff award.

Green has been a full-time member of the UNK admissions staff since 2011.

A Grand Island native, he began working in the Admissions Office after enrolling at UNK in 2007 and was a Student Diplomat, tour guide and New Student Enrollment Leader as an undergrad.

After earning his degree in 7-12 History and 7-12 Mild/Moderate Special Education, he was hired in 2011 as a full-time admissions counselor, quickly advanced to the position of assistant director and then to his current position as associate director.

“Brad is passionate about UNK and a very proud alumnus,” said Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Dusty Newton. “He is highly respected and well-liked across campus and has been very active, not only at UNK but in the Kearney community.”

Green graduated from Leadership UNK and Leadership Kearney programs, and he was named a Rising Star in 2013 by the Great Plains Association for College Admissions Counseling.

Green’s responsibilities include management of undergraduate recruitment efforts both on and off campus, campus visit and dual enrollment programs, and coordination of New Student Enrollment with the First Year Program.

He also manages Undergraduate Admissions’ overall communication, marketing, social media and technology strategy to effectively impact prospective students and families.

“With competition for new students at a premium, what he does each day is of major importance to the institution,” Newton said.

Green was recognized and given the KUDOS award at the Board of Regents meeting, which was attended by Newton, UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen, UNL Student Regent Spencer Hartman and NU President Hank Bounds.
