Mick Anderson, director of the Nebraska Safety Center at UNK, was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in promoting health and safety in Nebraska.
Anderson was recognized along with Governor’s Wellness Award winners Sept. 24 in Kearney, where employers and communities were honored for developing and implementing successful workplace wellness programs.
Anderson said safety means doing “the right thing at the right time” and doing so “before something happens.” He also is executive director of Great Plains Safety and Health Organization.
The Nebraska Safety Center provides instruction in safety education, service through seminars and workshops, coordination of statewide programs, and research in safety education in areas of traffic, industrial, home, fire and recreational safety.
“The ultimate goal is to continue to keep people safe, it’s just a passion I have and I enjoy doing it,” Anderson said.
