University of Nebraska a Kearney students collected ,521 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through its Up ‘til Dawn event hosted Thursday at Cushing Coliseum.
More than 300 UNK students stayed up from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. to raise funds, support and honor families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
Fifty 6-person teams participated in a year of fundraising that culminated with the Up ’til Dawn challenge.
Because of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food.
Some of the challenges included a relay race and making prom dresses out of duct tape. The event also featured a DJ, photo booth and dance.
Over the last three years, UNK students have raised more than $130,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through its Up ’til Dawn event.
