KEARNEY – A trivia contest to create a scholarship in memory of Mary Daake is being hosted by the former University of Nebraska at Kearney employee’s friends, family and co-workers.
The Mary Daake Memorial Trivia contest is at 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at Platte Valley Brewery in Kearney, 14 E. Railroad St.
The event includes four-person teams and costs 0 per team, which includes dinner. All proceeds will go to a scholarship fund established in Daake’s honor.
The trivia contest is open to the public, and prizes are being awarded to the top teams.
A political science teacher and UNK’s former director of academic advising and career services, Daake died in May after a long illness. She was also director of the World Affairs Conference at UNK
“To many people at UNK, Mary was a great friend, advisor, teacher and mentor. She made a huge impact on this campus, and with our help her impact will carry on for years to come,” said Aaron Estes, one of the event’s organizers.
