KEARNEY – Richard Mocarski has been hired as the new director of sponsored programs at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Mocarski has an extensive background and wealth of experience in research development and grants management.
He completed his doctoral degree in communication and information sciences at the University of Alabama, where he served as grants director for the department of psychology the last four years.
Prior to that, he served as coordinator for research communication for the office of research/sponsored programs at the University of Alabama. He also served as grants administrator for the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease at the University of North Carolina.
At UNK, Mocarski is responsible for supporting development and submission of extramural funding proposals from the division of academic affairs and student life. His duties include work with federal funding priorities, and federal and state compliance issues. He also interacts with other campuses in the NU system to facilitate collaboration on research, federal policy and system level strategic priorities.
Mocarski replaces John Falconer, who moved into the position of director of the honors program.
