Rotary seeks students for India trip, humanitarian project

KEARNEY – Rotary District 5630 in central and western Nebraska has partnered with Rotary District 3190 in southern India to provide an opportunity for two male students from each of the districts to participate in an international humanitarian project.

Students will be expected to embrace Rotary’s spirit of engaging in volunteer activities.

The program’s – Global Experience in India for Youth – is open to men in central and western Nebraska ages 18-23. The goal is to help young men develop global awareness of community needs in Rotary’s “Six Areas of Focus” that include:

•   Peace & Conflict Prevention & Resolution
•   Disease Prevention & Treatment
•   Water & Sanitation
•   Maternal & Child Health
•   Basic Education & Literacy

•   Economic & Community Development

The experience will be approximately two to three weeks in length and take place in July or August. Exact dates are yet to be determined.

Rotary District 5630 will pay for the students’ travel and related insurance. The students will be hosted by, and stay with, Rotarians in Bangalore, India.
