KEARNEY – The UNK Loper Programming and Activities Council’s Fun 5K Walk/Run is set for 9 a.m. on April 12.

The race begins at Cope Memorial Fountain, continues around campus and finishes back at the fountain, said Heather Wolf, assistant director of Student Activities at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Prizes donated from area sponsors will be drawn at the completion of the race, and all participants receive a t-shirt. Registration fees go toward the Student Leadership Scholarship fund.

“Yearly we have between 400 to 500 participants, numerous business sponsors, and raise over ,000,” Wolf said.

Registration is free to students who sign up before 5 p.m. on April 4, and any time afterwards. The nonstudent entry fee is if received before April 4, or any time afterwards. Those interested can register online at www.unk.edu/fun5k or by calling the Office of Student Life at 308.865.8523.

Race packets can be picked up at the Nebraskan Student Union Welcome Desk from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on April 11 or 8 a.m. day of race.

Those interested in sponsoring the event should contact Wolf at 308.865.8523 or wolfhn@unk.edu with a donation of $100 cash, or $100 worth of merchandise or gift certificates.
