KEARNEY – The Interfraternity Council at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is hosting a Developmental Disabilities Walk/Run/Roll to raise funds for disabled children, teens and adults.

The event is at 9:30 a.m. March 1 on the UNK campus, with check-in beginning at 9 a.m. in the atrium of the Nebraskan Student Union. Registration is $5 until Feb. 27 and $7 after the deadline and day of the race. To register, contact Nathan Collier at 402-560-8010.

The Walk/Run/Roll is not a competitive race. It will include a half-mile route across the UNK campus for children and others who prefer a shorter course, and a longer 1.5-mile course for those who prefer more distance.

Proceeds from the first-year event will be used to support The Arc of Buffalo County and its recreational programming for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Some popular Arc activities include: Buddy Bowling, Teens in Action, Arc at the Kearney Family YMCA, seasonal dances and parties, Saturday craft classes, Sibshops, parent trainings and monthly free respite at Kearney Area Children’s Museum Kidzone.

The Arc of Buffalo County is a nonprofit organization that provides developmental disability information, advocacy, networking and respite.

The Interfraternity Council governs the Greek social fraternities at UNK.
