Wind Ensemble touring high schools in three states

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska Kearney Wind Ensemble is performing at five high schools in eastern Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota as part of a Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 concert tour.

The 44-member Wind Ensemble, directed by Duane Bierman, opens the tour with a home concert in the Recital Hall of the UNK Fine Arts Building at 7:30 p.m. on (Wednesday) Jan. 29.

The concerts are free and open to the public. Tour stops include:

Thursday, Jan. 30

1 p.m. – Bennington High School

7 p.m. – Wahoo High School

Friday, Jan. 31

9 a.m. – Nodaway Valley High School (Greenfield, Iowa)

2:20 p.m. – Union High School (La Porte City, Iowa)

Saturday, Feb. 1

8 p.m. – Mahtomedi (Minn.) High School

The 1,500-mile round trip tour also includes stops at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and St. Paul Winter Carnival. Members of the UNK Wind Ensemble were selected through auditions. They include:

Hastings – Tyler Hinrichs, clarinet; Zach Thomas, percussion
Hickman – Kristina Price, clarinet
Holdrege – Amanda Gray, percussion
Kearney – Daniel Gibbs, flute; Tyler Walker, alto saxophone; Aaron Woolley, horn
Lexington – Morgan Sentelle, trumpet
Lincoln – Cole Chancellor, oboe
Madrid – Bert Ogg, bass clarinet
Minden – Jonathan Hunzeker, trombone; Nate Hunzeker, trumpet; Vergil Nelson, euphonium; Jared Sanford, clarinet; Matthew Stubbs, trumpet
Mitchell – Matt Powell, percussion
North Platte – Barbara Lloyd, flute
Ogallala – Alex Rudolph, tuba
Omaha – Haley Allen, tenor sax; Jacob Fahrlander, string bass; Nathan Skinner, percussion; Anna Wagemann, horn
Plainview – Justin Kluver, percussion
Sargen – Hyojung Kim, flute
Wahoo – Hillary Fick, clarinet; Gabe Haberman, trumpet
Wallace – John Paul Lempke, euphonium

Ames, Iowa – Stephanie Holtman, flute
Andalusia, Ill. – Tony Garcia, tenor saxophone
