LiveWell_TeamChallenge_ColorKEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney students can start the new year living healthier, more active lives.

The LiveWell Team Challenge allows students to form teams and follow weekly tips and track progress over 12 weeks.

“The goal is to get students more active, and for them to build healthy habits,” said Scott Staver, a freshman exercise science major. “You can do the LiveWell Challenge with your friends and have some fun.”

The LiveWell Team Challenge runs Jan. 13 to April 7 and allows participants to compete in friendly weight loss and activity challenges.

The cost is $15 and includes entry to three challenges: the LiveWell Fall Challenge, the LiveWell Team Challenge and LiveWell Summer Steps. The registration fee also includes a magazine subscription, monthly newsletter, articles by fitness and nutrition experts, online activity and nutrition tracking, recipes, a personal blog and activity and nutrition charts.

“For students who aren’t in athletics, it might be difficult for them to find time to exercise with classes and extracurricular activities,” said Staver of Fremont. “They might not be putting physical activity on the top of their priority list. The LiveWell Challenge encourages students on campus to get more active.”

Teams of between two and 10 people follow weekly tips and track physical activity minutes and/or weight loss over 12 weeks. Teams are eligible for prizes each month.

The challenge is also open to UNK faculty and staff.
