Kearney, Neb., June 12, 2013 – The Museum of Nebraska Art will host a birthday celebration for Nebraska artist Robert Henri on June 26 at 2 p.m.

Jane Rohman, a MONA board member, will share her knowledge of Henri’s life and his significant contribution to the art world. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Henri, born Robert Henry Cozad, is one of Nebraska’s most famous painters. He served as a teacher and a founder of the Ashcan movement as well as the Ashcan School of American realism.

Henri’s family founded the town of Cozad but moved often and changed their names to disassociate themselves from a scandal before he began pursuing his career in art.
