Kearney Symphony Orchestra concert is April 23

Kearney, Neb., April 17, 2013 – “Music of Peace and Harmony” is the title for the Kearney Symphony Orchestra concert on April 23 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Under the direction of Deborah Freedman, the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The Kearney Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the UNK Chamber Orchestra in select pieces including “Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber, and “Serenade for Strings” by Edward Elgar.

The orchestra will then perform Christopher Tin’s “Calling all Dawns,” a peace cantata in 12 languages with ethnic percussion, nine soloists and chorus. The UNK Choraleers, under the direction of David Bauer will sing the text.
