Kearney, Neb., April 10, 2013 – The University of Nebraska at Kearney Concerts-on-the-Platte series will feature the UNK Faculty Piano Trio on April 15 in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The recital, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The trio features Ting-Lan Chen, associate professor of music and performing arts, on violin; Noah Rogoff, assistant professor of music and performing arts, on cello; and Nathan Buckner, professor of music and performing arts, on piano.

The trio will perform several pieces including “String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat, Opus 18” by Johannes Brahms; “Circulo, Opus 91” by Joaquin Turina; and “Hommages for Piano Trio” by Ernesto Halffter.

The recital series, which features full-scale recitals of UNK music faculty and guest-artists, was inaugurated in 1999 to better reflect the institution’s growing role in Nebraska as a magnet for faculty artist-performers. With an increasing number of music performance majors and other music students interested in presenting recitals, the series has served to provide professional examples to the department’s growing enrollment. Included has been a broad cross-section of chamber, instrumental, vocal and solo piano recitals, as well as jazz combo events. A concert season usually features between 12 and 16 recitals. Guest artists have traveled from as far as Poland, Germany, and Korea to perform on the series.
