Dan Frizane of Minden, a retired band director and former Frank House volunteer, will perform at the Frank House on Saturday, Feb. 16.

The performance, which is free and open to the public, will start at 1:30 p.m.

“I like to play music that is easy listening for the crowd,” Frizane said. “I’ll be playing a variety of older popular music that everyone will know and enjoy hearing.”

Frizane will be showcasing a few of the many different instruments he can play. Some include the trombone, double bell baritone horn, old-fashioned mellophone and a pocket-sized trumpet.

Frizane, a college band director for 39 years in various colleges in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri, performs at the Frank House and other venues in the Kearney area throughout the year. He is also the conductor of the Minden Presbyterian Church Choir, and the Kearney Adult Community Band, which performs every Thursday night in June and July at Harmon Park.

Regular walk-in-hours for tours of the Frank House are Monday – Friday, 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. The Frank House is closed during UNK breaks and holidays. Donations are always accepted.
