SENIOR FLUTE RECITAL SET FOR THURSDAY, OCT. 11, AT UNK

University of Nebraska at Kearney senior Brooke Harris of Dickens will present a senior flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Harris will perform: “Sonata in E Minor” by J.S. Bach, “Sonatine” by Henri Dutilleux, “Landscape with Birds” by Peteris Vasks and “Fantaisie on Themes from Der Freischutz” by Paul Taffanel. Harris will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Marilyn Musick, UNK music and performing arts lecturer. The recital is free and open to the public.

Harris, who is pursuing a bachelor of music degree in music performance and a bachelor of arts in music education, is a student of Franziska Nabb, UNK music lecturer.

Harris is a member of the Kearney Symphony Orchestra, UNK Wind Ensemble and the UNK track and cross country team. She is also a member of the UNK Honor’s Program and was a NCAA Division II Academic All-American for the 2010-2011 academic year, a provisional national qualifier, and the school record holder in the 1000 meter and the mile. Harris has also conducted research as part of Undergraduate Research projects.

She is the daughter of Scott and Deb Harris of Dickens.
