The Trans-Nebraska-Players will open the fall Concerts-on-the-Platte recital series Monday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The Trans-Nebraska-Players are a five-member ensemble comprised of music faculty from across the state. Performers, their campuses and their instruments include: Franziska Nabb of UNK, flute; Dr. David Neely of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, violin; Dr. Clark Potter of UNL, viola; Dr. Noah Rogoff of UNK, violoncello; and Dr. James Margetts of Chadron State College, piano.
In describing the group, Nabb said: “The Trans-Nebraska-Players have been actively performing since 2010. Teaching at different institutions in Nebraska, our goals include demonstrating that music knows no boundaries—institutional or otherwise.”
The recital will feature two works by each of two composers– contemporary composer Maria Newman and Mel Bonis (1858-1937). The program will open and close with Newman’s “Pennipotenti” and “Lauds,” respectively.
Bonis’ selections include “Suite dans le style ancient” and “Suite en Trio.”
The performance is free and open to the public.
