‘APPLAUDING EXCELLENCE’ TO RECOGNIZE UNK STUDENT LEADERS

The first “Applauding Excellence: Recognizing Student Leaders” event on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus will recognize students who have been strong contributors to the campus community, according to Erin Christensen, assistant director of Greek Affairs.

The event, which is sponsored by the UNK Division of Student Affairs, will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.

“Applauding Excellence is a program that recognizes the work of student organizations and student leaders,” Christensen said. “The Division of Student Affairs saw the need to have organizations and student leaders be recognized for their contributions to the UNK community.”

Students are nominated for the awards by a students, staff or faculty members. Award recipients will receive a plaque.

Among the awards that will be presented are: Outstanding Student Organization, New Student Organization of the Year, Diversity Program of the Year, Community Service Program of the Year, Outstanding Collaborative Program, Outstanding Student Organization Adviser Award, Outstanding Organization Leader, Emerging Leader Award, Unsung Hero Award and Leadership Legacy.
