UNK NEBRASKATS TO PERFORM IN ALBION SUNDAY, NOV. 20; AURORA AND HASTINGS ON MONDAY, NOV. 21

The Nebraskats, the University of Nebraska at Kearney show choir, will perform in Albion on Sunday (Nov. 20) as the first stop on their fall tour.

The Nebraskats performance, under the direction of Dr. Andrew White, UNK associate professor of music and performing arts, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Boone Central High School. The performance is free and open to the public.

At the event, the Nebraskats will perform medleys from Broadway musicals “Wicked” and “Next to Normal,” as well as numbers from the movie “The Polar Express.”

On Monday, Nov. 21, the group will perform at Aurora High School, Hastings High School and Adams Central High School in Hastings. The group will perform a home concert in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The Nebraskats is made of 14 UNK student singers and a six-piece band. The group was founded in 1967 and is the longest running college-level show choir in Nebraska. Their repertoire includes a wide range of music ranging from jazz and musical theatre to rock, pop, oldies and contemporary. The group is choreographed by the students as well as professional choreographers.

Nancy Curry, a professional pianist from Columbus, also performs with the group.
