University of Nebraska at Kearney senior Jillian Parker, a musical theatre major, will present a senior vocal recital on Saturday, March 12.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall in the UNK Fine Arts Building.
Parker is a mezzo-soprano and will be performing 12 works in her recital, including “I’ve Gotta Run,” “If I Told You Now” and “Mr. Hopalong Heartbreak.”
Parker has performed in numerous university theatre productions. Among the productions, along with the parts she has performed, are: “Harvey,” Nurse Kelly; “Dear, Edwina,” Annie; “Oklahoma!,” Ado Annie; and she will be playing Gladys in the upcoming UNK musical “The Pajama Game.” She also performed in “Bon Appetit!,” a UNK opera workshop monodrama.
A student of Dr. Sharon Campbell, UNK assistant professor of music and performing arts, she is the daughter of Geralyn and Lauren Parker of Goodland, Kan.
Other performers in Parker’s recital include Todd Thalken of Kearney on piano and UNK student Julie Gates of McCookon flute.
