“Cathedral Echoes” is the theme of the concert which features four University of Nebraska at Kearney choirs on Sunday, Feb. 27.
The choirs concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall in the UNK Fine Arts Building.
Under the direction of Dr. David Bauer, UNK music professor, Vocal Collegium, Choraleers, Women’s Chorus and Men’s Chorus will all perform.
The UNK Men’s Chorus will perform “Soon Very Soon,” “Tree of Peace” and “Come to the Music” featuring Amy Dunn of Falls City on percussion and Dr. Allison Fletcher on piccolo. The UNK Women’s Chorus will perform “The Paint Box,” “Alleluia,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “Fidelia omnia madata ejus,” featuring Cindie Reneau of Oklahoma City, Okla., on violin.
UNK Vocal Collegium will perform “Weep No More,” “The Most Living Moment,” “God Be in My Head” and “Esto Les Digo,” featuring Amy Knispel of Kearney singing mezzo- soprano. The UNK Vocal Collegium, which specializes in choral chamber repertoire of all eras, is described as “…an elite group of students who are chosen from among the UNK Choraleers.” Students must audition to be a member of the Vocal Collegium.
The UNK Choraleers, whose membership is by audition only, will perform “Regina Coeli, K.276” featuring Katherine Ridder of Kearney singing soprano, Phillip Zuehlke of Grand Island singing tenor, Deidre Volberding of Ogallala singing alto and Robert Roth of Comstock singing bass. “Selig sindt die toten” will feature Dr. Noah Rogoff, UNK assistant professor of music, on cello; “Festival Te Deum, op.32” will feature Knispel singing mezzo-soprano; and “You are the Music” will feature Ridder singing mezzo-soprano and Dr. Seth Fletcher, UNK low brass lecturer, on the euphonium.
