The seventh annual production of Eve Ensler’s “Vagina Monologues” will be performed on the University of Nebraska at Kearney Thursday and Friday (Feb. 17 – 18).

The production, part a nationwide college campus campaign to end violence against women, is sponsored jointly by the UNK Women’s and Gender Studies Program and Triota student organization. The performance will take place at 7 p.m. in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall. Tickets are $3 for UNK students and $5 for the general public.

Proceeds from this event, which is student-directed with a full cast of student performers, will be donated to the UNK Women’s Center and Ensler’s Spotlight Campaign for Women in Haiti. First produced in 1996, the play is a collection of monologues on sex, love and anatomy.

“The overall spirit of the play should be one of celebration and humor,” Ensler wrote of her production. The play has become the cornerstone of V-Day celebrations throughout the world.
