UNK- Nearly 200 students will take part in 10 a.m. summer graduation ceremonies Friday, July 30, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Of the 191 graduates, 77 will receive undergraduate degrees, and 114, graduate degrees. The ceremonies will take place in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.

Addressing the graduates will be Stanley Dart, UNK emeritus associate professor of geography. Dart, whose address is titled “Expectations and Experience,” taught geography on the campus for 39 years. Among the awards he received are the Pratt-Heins Award for Teaching Excellence and the Pratt-Heins Award for Service. Twice, he received honorable mention from the Nebraska State College Board of Trustees for the Teaching Excellence Award. Further, he has received gubernatorial appointments to the Nebraska Professional Practices Commission on two occasions. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Kearney Community Theater and the Senior College of Central Nebraska. He is an active member of the Kearney Sertoma Club.

The Friday ceremonies will open with the National Anthem, performed by Joseph Knispel of Kearney, a 2009 UNK graduate. Regan Ruhl of Wayne, will give the senior class reflections. UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen will give the welcome, and Bob Phares of North Platte, chair of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, will extend greetings.
