Walker Gallery Exhibits Senior Studio Art April 1-12 at UNK

UNK – Two University of Nebraska at Kearney seniors, Shawnee McCormick of North Platte and Maria Rojas of Bogota, Colombia, will display selected works at the Walker Art Gallery beginning Thursday, April 1.

The exhibit will be on display through Monday, April 12, in the gallery, which is located in the UNK Fine Arts Building. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The gallery is free and open to the public.

McCormick will present “A Dream Inside A Dream” and “Silence is Golden.” Both works feature oil on plywood. She will also present a mixed media on canvas piece titled, “A Trip inside my Mind,” along with other forms of art including acrylic on canvas, a bronze casting and several ceramic works.

After graduation, she plans to work towards a master of fine arts and teach art at a community college or university.

Rojas will present a collection of ceramic and drawing works including “Victorious Amor” and “Joker.” She will also display an acrylic on canvas piece titled, “Circles.”

Rojas plans to move to a metropolitan area after graduation to learn about other cultures and to express her own culture through art.
