Paul Niedbalski of Kearney will perform a trombone recital at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall.
A student of Dr. Seth Fletcher, UNK Department of Music and Performing Arts lecturer, Niedbalski is a trombone performance and music education major. He has received the UNK Concerto-Aria Winner award and Travis Kilmer award in 2009, and a John Shildneck Young Artist Award finalist in 2007 and 2009.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will feature the following selections: “Deux Dances” by Jean Michel Defave, “Elegy for Mippy II” by Leonard Bernstein, “Sang til Lotta” by Jan Sandstrom, “Introduction and Dance” by J.E. Barat, “Arrows of Time” by Michael Peaslee and “Scarborough Fair.”
Todd Thalken of Kearney will accompany Niedbalski on piano. Also, Niedbalski will perform along with members of the UNK Trombone Choir. Trombone Choir members who will be performing at the recital are listed below, alphabetically by hometown:
