UNK- Holiday classics are on the program for a combined concert at the University Band and the Wind Ensemble of the University of Nebraska at Kearney Thursday, Dec. 4.

The 7:30 p.m. performance, which is free and open to the public, will be in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall.

“The two unique band ensembles will perform an inspirational and enjoyable evening of great band music and holiday favorites to celebrate the season,” said Dr.  Neal Schnoor, UNK director of bands.

The Wind Ensemble will perform for the first half of the concert. Musical selections to be performed include “William Byrd Suite,” “Mock Morris” by Percy Grainger and “A Most Wonderful Christmas,” a new arrangement of holiday favorites.

The full University Band, which includes the members of the UNK Wind Ensemble, will headline the second half of the concert in a symphonic setting. Performance pieces include “Proclamation,” Norman Dello Joio’s “Variants on a Mediaeval Tune” and a collage of holiday classics, titled “Christmas Music for Winds.”

Dr. Schnoor and Dr. Gary Davis will co-conduct the performances.
