The Homecoming Hustle 2008, which will feature a one-mile Kids Run followed by a 5K Fun Run, is set for 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Health and Sports Center.
The registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 24. Pre-registration is required for participants in both divisions. There is a $7 entry fee for the Kids Run; $15, for the 5K Fun Run. UNK students who show their ID when picking up an entry packet will pay $7. A group of four friends or family members can register at a group rate of $50.
Registration forms are to be returned to: UNK Human Performance Laboratory, Homecoming Hustle, 1410 West 26th St, Kearney, NE 68849. Checks are to be made payable to UNK.
The Kids Run is open to participants age 12 and under. The race will begin and conclude on the west side of the Health and Sports Center. UNK student athletes will be on hand to accompany participants around campus. Pre-registered participants will receive a finisher’s medal and t-shirt at the conclusion of the run.
The 5K Fun Run will immediately follow the completion of the Kids Run. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division. Pre-registration must be received by Sept. 24 to guarantee a t-shirt.
Packet pick up will be in the Human Performance Lab on race day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or, after 5 p.m., at the race starting line.

The event is sponsored by the UNK Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies (HPERLS) and the Human Performance Lab. Proceeds from the Hustle will benefit the HPERLS student scholarship fund.
