UNK- University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Doug Kristensen today announced the appointment of Lucas Dart of Kearney as the new director of Alumni Relations, effective July 1, 2008.

“The association board joins me in extending Lucas a hearty welcome to his new duties, and we look forward to a long, productive collaboration and many new ways of engaging with the entire UNK community and family,” Chancellor Kristensen said in making the announcement.

A 1997 UNK graduate with a degree in business administration, Dart has served as director of Development at the University of Nebraska Foundation Kearney Office since 2002. In that capacity, he worked closely with senior campus leaders to define fund-raising priorities, and, nationwide, to counsel alumni and friends of the university about the university’s strengths and needs.

Previously, he worked in the financial services industry and then joined the staff of the UNK Admissions Office, where he recruited and advised prospective students, and represented the campus throughout Nebraska and the Midwest region.

As a UNK student, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award, which is presented by the UNK Student Alumni Board, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He has remained active in Delta Tau Delta, receiving the fraternity’s outstanding adviser award for the Western Plains Division in 2002.

In addition to his work with the campus, Dart has been prominent in numerous community service organizations. He is president-elect of the Kearney Sertoma Club, a past president of Leadership Kearney’s Board of Directors and is currently a member of the Kearney Public Schools Citizen’s Steering Committee.

Along with directing UNK Alumni Relations, Dart will also serve as executive director of UNK’s Alumni Association, working closely with the association’s board of directors.
