Kevin Nenstiel will host “Poetry in the House” at the G.W. Frank House on the University of Nebraska at Kearney West Campus Sunday, Nov. 11.
Nenstiel brings together a collection of Kearney-based poets, fiction writers and other storytellers as part of the Parlor Performance series hosted at the Frank House. Nenstiel is a former champion of the Kearney Short Fiction Slam and has participated in poetry performance events throughout Nebraska. The performance will take place at 1:30 p.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a guided tour of the Frank House.
“This reading will not be based on a particular ‘type’ of poetry or storytelling,” Nenstiel said. “Our desire is simply to communicate with students and the community in a new, higher way.”
Other confirmed performers include Rick Marlatt, local teacher and poet; Sarah Cole, writer and musician; and Roger Hannah, a fixture on the local literary scene. All the performers are UNK students or alumni.
This is the second performance Nenstiel has led at the Frank House. After the first reading in October, decorated local poet Sam Stecher described the Frank House as “by far the most formal place I’ve read” and the audience as “attentive and delightful – what more could you ask for?”
