Tri-City Storm Hockey has been named “Marketer of the Year” by the University of Nebraska at Kearney Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association.
Marketing Director Scott Trautman, and Operations Manager Greg Shea were presented the award at the FirstTier Event Center as part of the chapter’s recognition of AMA week.
“Storm Hockey was presented with a plaque to recognize them for their creative and effective marketing tactics,” said Marsha Yeagley, AMA faculty adviser. “The Tri-City Storm Hockey organization has used creative ideas to position the team, generate fan interest and give back to the people in the region.”
AMA week is being observed at UNK Feb. 19-23. The chapter will use activities during the week to generate awareness of the importance of marketing in society. The American Marketing Association defines marketing as an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communication and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders.
Approximately 50% of the total cost for the average product pays for marketing, Yeagley said, adding that “A wise consumer should understand the process of marketing.”
University marketing students meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month for a business meeting and a presentation by a regional business regarding their marketing activities.
“The organization helps students apply what they have learned in classes, network and gain a better understanding of the marketing opportunities in the work place,” Yeagley said.
