1,600 AWARDED TO STUDENTS AT THE ‘FAME’ TALENT SHOW

For some students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, fame was something that they won at the Fame talent show held Thursday, April 6, on campus.
       
Separate categories were created for individual and group entries in the talent show. Both were judged by UNK faculty members selected by the Fame Committee.
    
Winners in the competition were announced at the conclusion of the show. First, second and third place winners in the individual category received $400, $200 and $100, respectively. In the group category, first place won $500; second place, $250; and third place, $150.    
    
Winners are listed below by category:

Individual Category  
1st place: Alisha Keim of Lincoln  performed a clogging routine to a song that
       she wrote and recorded herself  
2nd place: Chrisna Clark of Kearney  performed a vocal solo to the song “Ready
       for Love”  
3rd place: Denise Clodfelter of Cozad  performed a vocal solo to the song
       “Redeemer”      

Group Category
 
1st place: Laura Cole of Merna  and Monica Fuentes of Holdrege  sang a duet to
       the song “Aint No Mountain High Enough”  
2nd place: The group called “Avalanche,” comprised of Akiko Iwata, Tsubasa
       Wagceyoshi, Shoko Honda, Ikumi Sawada, Yuko Wada, who are all
       from Japan , performed a dance routine.    
3rd place: A group called “The Tinsandwich Artists,” made up of Joe
       Szczepaniak of Omaha  and Wes Sanders of Eustis , presented a
       harmonica performance.    

Fame was sponsored by Loper Programming and Activities Council and
funded by UPFF.
