SHOGATSU, JAPANESE NEW YEAR, CELEBRATION PLANNED FOR THURSDAY, FEB. 2, ON THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY CAMPUS

Shogatsu , Japanese New Year, will be celebrated on the UNK campus from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room (E). There is no charge to attend this celebration.

According to Sullwold, the officers of the Japanese Association at Kearney (JAK) organized the event so that non-Japanese students can learn about how New Year’s Day is celebrated in Japan. As a part of the celebration, several traditional Japanese plays will be performed.
