On Friday, the UNK planetarium, located in the basement of
Bruner Hall of Science on the University of Nebraska at
Kearney campus, will present Orson Welles’ radio drama
“War of the Worlds.”  In 1938, this broadcast produced panic
throughout the United States. The one-hour show begins at
7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Come and hear what all the excitement was about as we turn
the clock back 67 years.

Afterwards, if weather permits, you are invited to the UNK
Observatory to see Mars through our telescopes.

The show is appropriate for all ages although very young children
might find it difficult to sit still for the duration. You are also encouraged to
bring a free-will donation of nonperishable food for the Mid-Nebraska
Food Bank.

The observatory will open at 8 p.m. and is located on the roof of
Bruner Hall of Science.  Please keep an eye on the weather.  If the
clouds are too widespread, we will not open the observatory.
