More than 50 companies and organizations will be participating in the First Annual Career Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Health and Sports Center.

“The career fair is an incredible opportunity to make first-hand connections with potential employers,” said Nancy Kneen Office of Career Services director.  “There will be a wide variety of employers, and no matter where you are in your college career, the fair will be helpful.

“First year students should come to see the opportunities there are out in the workforce; sophomores and juniors can look for internships, and seniors can look for full-time employment,” she said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., the Get Ready for Career Fair workshop will be held in the UNK Ockinga Seminar Center Auditorium. The workshop will cover details that students should know before attending the career fair.
“More than half of the employers have internship positions available,” Kneen said.  “The employers also have full-time, part-time and summer positions available.

“The fair is an opportunity to see what employers are expecting from future employees,” Kneen said.  “Students should be prepared to interview, because some of the companies will be scheduling formal interviews for the following day.”

The fair is free and open to the public. Those without UNK parking permits should park in lot 14, which is located directly west of the Health and Sports Center and north of the College of Education building. For more information, individuals can call the Office of Career Services at 308.865.8501 or visit www.unk.edu/offices/careerserv/employerfair/employerfairhome.html for a complete list of companies attending.
