High school students living in Nangi, a remote Nepalese village, are seeing the outside world for the first time through a wi-fi (wireless Internet technology) connection.

There are no telephones or other forms of communication available in the village. The wi-fi network was made possible through the efforts of their teacher Mahabir Pun, a UNK graduate who has an undergraduate degree in physics and a graduate degree in education.

Pun’s Nepal Wireless Networking project is featured on the BBC News world edition. To see the story and learn more about the project, go to:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3744075.stm
