The second annual Fun 5K for Scholarships is set for 8 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Practice Football Field.
According to Sharon Pelc, director of the Nebraskan Student Union, the 5K will begin at the UNK Practice Football Field and conclude at Yanney Heritage Park.
“Area businesses have donated thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes,” Pelc said. “It says a lot about community support for UNK.” More than $2,000 in gift certificates and merchandise will be given away to the first, second and third male and female winners.
UNK students can enter the 5K at no charge, if entered by 3 p.m. on Friday, April 16; $20 for UNK students after the Friday deadline, and a $20 entry fee for all non-students. Entry forms are available at the Nebraskan Student Union Welcome Desk or by calling 308.865.8523. Participants will receive a free T-shirt. Entry fees support the University Foundation-Student Leader Scholarship.
The event is sponsored by LPAC (Loper Programming and Activities Council) with partial funding from the UPFF.
