UNK NEBRASKA SAFETY CENTER TO HOLD DRIVER EDUCATION COURSES IN PAXTON

The Nebraska Safety Center at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will offer driver education courses Monday evenings in Paxton beginning in March.

The class is approximately seven weeks long and will be held at Paxton Consolidated School from 6-9 p.m. on March 8, 15, 29, and April 5, 19, 26, and May 10. Range and simulation at the Nebraska Safety Center in Kearney will be from 2:30-8 p.m. Saturday, April 24, and from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8. On-street driving will be scheduled at times arranged between the students and instructors.

Completion of the course results in waiver of the written and drive test at the driving examiner’s office. This course conforms to the rules and regulations of the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles and exceeds the criteria established for insurance discounts.

Classes are limited to 24 students. Enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee for the course is $235. Payment plans are available upon request. To enroll in the course, contact Marshall Barth at the UNK Nebraska Safety Center at 308.865.8256.

Each student must have a valid school permit, learner’s permit for a school permit, learner’s permit or driver’s license. Special arrangements for children with special needs relating to the classroom and driving may be accommodated, but may involve additional personnel and cost. Students are provided up to three hours of on-street driving time. No unexcused absences are allowed.
