The National Kitchen and Bath Association has selected University of Nebraska at Kearney Department of Family Studies and Interior Design Chair Dr. Phyllis Markussen for inclusion in the National Hall of Fame.

Dr. Markussen, CKE and CBE, will be formally inducted at the Board of Director’s Gala held at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show and Conference April 1 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago.

“Most NKBA members don’t realize that our task is to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to our entire industry, not just to the Association or even within one segment of the industry, but to acknowledge extraordinary contributions by individuals that have impacted the entire kitchen and bath industry,” said Gary N. Sheffield, CKD, and 2003 Hall of Fame Committee chair. “Our Hall of Fame is intended to honor those whose innovations and activities have changed the way our industry is viewed by the consuming public or whose work has allowed our industry to move forward in its professionalism and excellence.”

Each June, a request for nominations is sent to all voting members of NKBA. Nomination forms include questions about the nominee’s credentials, experience in the field and contributions that have singled them out as a leader in the industry. The nomination deadline is in July. The committee then reviews the nominations and makes a recommendation to the NKBA Executive Committee.
