UNK MATH PROFESSOR RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR SERVICE

Dr. Richard Barlow, professor of mathematics and statistics at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, has been awarded one of only five Certificates of Meritorious Service by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).

According to the MAA news release, Dr. Barlow has provided the Nebraska-SE South Dakota Section of the MAA with service as a Section Chair from 1995-1996, the Section newsletter editor from 1996 to the present, and the Section liaison with the MAA from 1997-2002. He represented the Section as the Governor from 1999-2002.

The MAA is the world’s largest organization devoted to collegiate mathematics education. The MAA has more than 24,000 members who participate in a variety of activities that foster mathematics education, professional development, student involvement and public policy.
