Two recreation and marketing classes from the University of Nebraska at Kearney are helping the American Heart Association host a “Hoops for Heart” 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Health and Sports Center.
Men and women over the age of 18 can participate. Entry fee is $40. Teams are guaranteed three games, a T-shirt if registered by November 8 and a chance to participate in a three-point or free-throw contest. Winners will receive cash prizes and gift certificates.
All proceeds will go directly to the American Heart Association to help fund research and education about heart disease and stroke, the number one and number three causes of death and disability among American adults.
College students enrolled in PE 429 Marketing in Sports Recreation and Tourism and REC 354 Programming in Sports Recreation and Tourism are responsible for the entire tournament, including planning, promoting, gaining sponsorships and prizes and executing the tournament the day of the event.
