The University of Nebraska at Kearney will be represented by 53 students at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research on April 25-27, 2002 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. UNK has been participating in NCUR conferences since 1995 and this year they are sending a record amount of students. In the past UNK has ranked in the top 10-15% of institutions in terms of the number of student participants, but Ken Nikels, dean of Graduate Studies and Research at UNK thinks that this year with 53 participants, UNK could be in the top 5 or 10 institutions, out of more than 250 present. Nikels said, “This is a very prestigious conference and verifies that UNK undergraduate students are performing exceptionally well in the research opportunities provided them by our faculty.”
