GRANWRITING WORKSHOP FOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

UNK-A grantwriting workshop, designed for the staff and volunteers of non-profit organizations, will be offered this summer at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The half-day workshop, scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-12 noon on June 13 in Room E105 of UNK’s West Center, will use an interactive format to introduce the basic elements of grant development for non-profit organizations. Participants will learn how to research funders, write strong proposals and develop accurate budgets. While the workshop is designed for the staff and volunteers of small non-profit organizations, it is open to everyone.

The workshop will be presented by John Falconer, director of sponsored programs at UNK. Falconer was the director of the Development at American Forests from 1996-99, raising more than $1 million a year. He has also been the program officer for the United States Ð Ukraine Foundation, writing successful grant proposals to the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Eurasia Foundation, and the Westminster Foundation.

The program is presented by the UNK Office of Sponsored Programs in partnership with the Kearney Area Community Foundation. The cost of the workshop is $35. For more information, or to register, contact John Falconer at (308) 865-8496.

The workshop is part of the Summer Synergy 2000 offerings at UNK. Summer Synergy includes short-term classes and workshops, as well as selected special events and enrichment activities. For more information on Summer Synergy, visit the Web site at www.unk.edu/summersynergy/.
