Classes canceled, UNK campus closed Thursday due to expected blizzard

The University of Nebraska at Kearney campus will be closed Thursday, April 11, because of blizzard conditions forecast for the area.

In the best interest of safety, UNK facilities staff, law enforcement and administration made the decision Wednesday afternoon.

The forecast for snow and high winds Thursday will likely produce blizzard-like conditions, making travel difficult. These hazardous conditions are expected to impact the morning and evening commutes. Road closures may be possible during the height of the storm.

Classes are canceled Thursday and any activity or event scheduled should be considered closed, canceled or postponed. UNK’s Child Development Center will also be closed.

As with all closing decisions, essential personnel should report to their supervisor.
