Large sculpture planned for Central Green at UNK’s University Village

By TODD GOTTULA UNK Communications KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney is transforming the Central Green space at University Village by adding a new sculpture to the mixed-use development. The piece of art named “Parable” will include three large steel arches, with the shortest being 25 feet in height and the tallest 40 feet high at its peak. ‘River at Dawn’ sculpture dedication March 14 at UNK

KEARNEY – Visitors to the Health Science Education Complex are now greeted by a 250-pound, 50-foot colorful aluminum sculpture reminiscent of the Platte River. “The River at Dawn” by Daniel Goldstein will be dedicated at a public open house event at 4:30 p.m. March 14. Sculptures donated by alumnus Shanahan installed at UNK

By SARA GIBONEY UNK Communications KEARNEY – Kearney State College alumnus Dr. Joe Shanahan has had an appreciation for art since he was a child. But it was his art professor at KSC, Jack Karraker, who inspired him to become a collector of art and donate more than 100 sculptures.
