Fans of the “Wild West” and history will have an opportunity to hear Buffalo Bill speak about his experiences when the legend visits the University of Nebraska at Kearney Wednesday, April 25, at 6 p.m.
The front porch of the historic Frank House will play host to the former buffalo hunter, scout, actor and express messenger as he fields questions from the audience, all answered from the point of view of William Cody himself.
The character of Buffalo Bill will be played by Nebraska Humanities Council speaker Stuart Lynn. The event is sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society at the university.
Dr. Roger Davis, UNK history professor, said the event will offer a mixture of history and romanticism to attendees.
“What audiences will get from the event is Stuart Lynn in the person of Buffalo Bill,” Dr. Davis said. “He’ll give impressions of his notoriety, and will bring together the myths and realities of the west through one of the most engaging personalities of the era.”
After the presentation, and question and answer session, there will be a complementary ice cream social.
If inclement weather develops, the event will be held in Room 140 of Copeland Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
