Award winning Hungarian pianist, Zsuzsa Balint, will be conducting a performance at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall on Monday Oct. 8, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Ms. Balint will be performing on the recently purchased German Steinway Concert Grand Piano. Her program will feature Ferruccio Busoni’s arrangement of Bach’s Chaconne , Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suit, and the works of Franz Liszt and Sergei Prokofiev.
Balint is maintaining a busy schedule of performances in Europe and Eastern Europe. Among her last presentations, she toured Romania, Hungary, and Austria. When she isn’t performing, Zsusa offers annual piano masterclasses in Italy, France, Hungary and Germany. Balint was recommended to UNK by Mr. Andras Agoston, a Hungarian violinist who performed on the Concerts of the Platte series last year.
Note to media: Ms. Balint personally selected the German Steinway Concert Grand Piano for UNK from a special group of Steinway Artist Pianos in Berlin. This performance is expected to be Dr. Cook’s largest musical event of the season.
