The University of Nebraska at Kearney Symphonic Band will be presenting a “Concert for America” on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The program is modeled on a traditional John Philip Sousa program that was popular in the early 1900’s. The concert will feature traditional Sousa marches, transcriptions of classical masterpieces, and a variety of vocal and instrumental solos. It will include a stirring tribute to past and present members of the American Armed Forces.
Dr. Neal Schnoor, UNK assistant professor of music and performing arts, said, “I am excited to present a concert which truly celebrates the spirit of America during these challenging times. The concert will be enjoyable for audience members young and old, but I especially hope those who have served in the military will attend.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
