The University of Nebraska at Kearney Reynolds Writers & Readers Series continues Thursday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA).

Novelist Roland Merullo will present excerpts from Leaving Losapos, one of four novels and two nonfiction books he has had published. His books have been translated into German and Spanish, and John Turturro and GreeneStreet Films have optioned Leaving Losapos and are writing a screenplay based on it.
According to Charles Fort, director of the series and a UNK English professor, the series, which is presented at the Museum of Nebraska Art, allows people to become acquainted with the visual and literary arts.

“People can learn about the writer’s works, ask questions about the writer’s creative process and the writer’s life,” Fort said.

Merullo taught for seven years at Bennington College in Vermont, and he is currently a visiting lecturer in fiction writing at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He has written for many newspapers and magazines including the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe, Newsweek, Forbes and the Chronicle for Higher Education.

The Reynolds Writers & Readers Series was founded in 1998 and has brought more than 60 writers from around the world to UNK, including Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award finalists and then-future Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser.

The series is free and open to the public. Each reading begins at 8 p.m. with a book signing and reception following.  For more information contact Charles Fort at (308) 865-8164.
