The 2004 International Food Festival will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Health and Sports Center.
“The festival is an opportunity for people to experience the cultures of our international community through traditional food, dress, dances and music,” said Corliss Sullwold, international student adviser. “But more importantly, it’s an opportunity for people to meet and visit with our international students.”
The festival, which is organized by the International Student Association, will also include students performing various songs and dances from their home countries–including Colombia, Eastern Europe, India, Japan, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Zambia.
“The festival goal is to have diversity and to bring the world to UNK,” said Manish Pandit of Nepal, president of ISA. “It is a time for people to celebrate. University students and members of the community can get the feel of places around the world.”
Scott and Cheryl Morris of Kearney sponsor the festival, which is organized and presented by the UNK International Student Association in coordination with the Offices of International Education and International Student Services. Cookbooks by Morris Press funds and prints the International Cookbook of the recipes contributed to the cookbook by international students. The International Cookbook will be distributed free to all who attend.
The festival, which drew nearly 3,000 people last year, is free and open to the public.
