More than 20 students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney showcased their abilities in the first annual “Fame” talent show, according to Jami Schaffnitt, coordinator of Student Activities for the Nebraskan Student Union.
“We had a great turnout for our inaugural year,” Schaffnitt said. “We had a variety of talents displayed–clogging, dancing, singing and instrumental talents! We are really excited about how well this first year went, and can’t wait until next year.”
The winners from this year’s event, their talents and the cash prizes they won, include:
Individual Category
First Place ($400) – Alisha Nabity, Lincoln, performed a clogging routine she choreographed to a song which she wrote and self-recorded titled Let Us Praise His Name with Dancing.
Second Place ($200) – Kurtis Dudo, Grant, drum solo
Third Place ($100) – Denise Clodfelter, Cozad, vocal solo to a Martina McBride song titled Broken Wing
Group Category
First Place ($500) – Sing-Sang-Sung (members from the JAK organization) performed a Chorus to a Japanese song, Shima Uta, which means Song of Island.
Second Place ($250) – Laura Cole, Merna, and Monica Fuentes, Holdrege, performed a vocal duet with piano accompaniment
to the song My Guy.
Third Place ($150) – Team Endurance. Members include: Jenna Derr, Amherst; Andrew Spencer,Chappell; Elizabeth Powell,
Columbus; Katy Bodenhamer, Hershey; Sally DeTurk, North Platte; and Audra Young,Wilcox.
